About the work

The Ballad of Protection was born of a long walk in a Breton forest, where Pierre Le Caër picked up one by one the pieces of this composition. Metal speaks here with wood and stone in a delicate balance that evokes a benevolent presence, a guardian in movement, a protective figure that accompanies without constraining. The artist works his cold assembly technique: no heavy welding, but precise fixings that leave each material its own nature. Breton stone brings the weight of geology, wood the warmth of the living, metal the rigour of human construction. A work about the relationship between beings, and about what protecting truly means.
