Blast Furnace
Haut Fourneau is the most monumental sculpture in the selection and one of the most ambitious of Pierre Lecaer's career. At two metres tall, it summons the world of Breton steelmaking and the industries that forged the region's working-class identity.
The structure is organised in stacked layers: at the base, a massive oak trunk evokes roots and raw material; above, metal grids salvaged from a disused factory form the belly of the furnace; at the top, a column of twisted, melted metal suggests the chimney and its petrified smoke. The whole is run through by a constructive logic reminiscent of industrial architecture as much as abstract sculpture.

Pierre Le Caër
His artistic voice emerged in Paris in the spring of 1995. Since then Pierre Le Caër has been making unique assemblages in metal, wood and Breton stone in his 700 m² studio at Ploudalmézeau, facing the Iroise sea.
