Demonstration
On a base of raw wood cut clean, a creature of twisted metal comes alive with urgency. Copper wire for hair, shards of cast iron for limbs, one arm outstretched holding a fragment of metal like a torch or a leaflet: Demonstration is the irruption of the living into inert matter. The artist worked the metal molten, then assembled it in a single movement, catching the impulse of a gesture that will not be repeated. Like a street march, everything here is movement, urgency and fragile presence, a form that seems to have emerged of its own accord, carried by an inner force beyond control. Demonstration is at once a portrait of resistance and a manifesto of making.
