ARTDELION is an independent artist agency based in Paris. Our trade comes down to three gestures: finding artists whose work stands up, representing them seriously, and accompanying every meeting between a work and the person who acquires it.
Why an agency, and not one more gallery
A gallery holds a space, programmes exhibitions and brings the public in front of the walls. It is a respectable trade, but it is not ours, and it is expensive for the artist and the collector alike.
We chose the other route: no permanent space, no shop-window rent, but documentation and visibility work carried out piece by piece. Every work has its record, its dimensions, its materials, its written note, its photographs. That catalogue is public, free, readable in French and in English, and it does the job a window would do. The two trades are compared in artist agency or art gallery.
The two artists we represent
Pierre Le Caër is a sculptor in Brittany. He came from high-level judo, works metal, driftwood and granite, and has pursued a single question for thirty years, that of balance, which he calls by the Japanese word he brought back from a journey.
Gabriel Lemaire Sicre is a painter and sculptor in Graulhet, in the Tarn. He salvages the abandoned machines of the tanneries that once kept his town alive and turns them into sculptures, in a studio he named Le Paradis des Machines.
Two artists is few, and it is deliberate. Representing someone for real takes time, and we would rather own that than line up names.
What we do for a buyer
The price is displayed, set with the artist, the same for everyone. We answer questions before the purchase, including the awkward ones: your floor’s load capacity, how the material behaves over time, what the piece will be worth if you sell it one day. We arrange packing to measure, insured transport and tracking through to delivery, and the work arrives with its papers.
The full sequence, from first look to installation, is described in the acquisition journey, and the most complete guide remains buying a contemporary sculpture.
What we do not do
- We charge the artist nothing before a sale. Our pay is a commission, explained in what an artist’s agent charges.
- We do not present a work as a financial investment. It is not one.
- We do not practise commercial chasing, manufactured scarcity, or prices that shift depending on who is asking.
- We neither sell nor share our readers’ addresses.
Who writes here
The agency was founded by Quentin Trobas, whose path is told in a dedicated article. The Journal now gathers more than forty articles on the trade of an artist’s agent, on acquiring a work, and on the work of the two sculptors. All of it is public and readable without an account.
If you are an artist looking to be represented, the procedure is on the artist representation page. For anything else, the contact page is the right place, and we answer within a few days.
